I’ve passed the Certified Cloud Native Platform Engineering Associate (CNPA) exam.

This one aligns well with day to day platform work. The scope is broad but practical, and the domain split feels realistic for modern platform teams.
Exam format#
The exam is online, proctored, multiple-choice. The duration is 120 minutes. The certification is valid for 2 years.
Domains#
The CNPA blueprint is split into six domains with the following weights:
pie showData title CNPA domains (weights) "Platform Engineering Core Fundamentals" : 36 "Platform Observability, Security, and Conformance" : 20 "Continuous Delivery & Platform Engineering" : 16 "Platform APIs and Provisioning Infrastructure" : 12 "IDPs and Developer Experience" : 8 "Measuring your Platform" : 8
Preparation#
My prep stack was minimal:
- CNPA official exam page
- Linux Foundation CNPA page
- CNPA curriculum overview
Personal notes#
I did not prepare for this one because I have been working as a DevSecOps Platform Engineer for a while. The exam still felt interesting, especially around platform observability and internal developer platforms. I am very curious about CNPE. If CNPA is the foundation, CNPE should be the real meal, practical and with solid scope.
